1 Hour Rolls

My sister-in-law gave me this recipe for these fabulous dinner rolls that only take an hour to make, including baking time. And they are super soft and flavorful! Plus the dough is also great for making cinnamon rolls and breadsticks. Now we make these all the time.

1 rounded Tb. yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 tsp. sugar

1 1/4 cup warmed milk
4 Tb. butter
3 Tb. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 cups flour, separated

Add yeast to warm water in small bowl with the sugar. Let sit for about 5 min. Meanwhile, heat milk in saucepan till small bubbles form on edges of pan. Add butter, sugar, and salt and stir occasionally till butter is melted. Pour into mixing bowl with 1 cup of the flour. Mix for 5-10 minutes, so that gluten forms. (You can tell if gluten has formed later if dough is stretchy, rather than tears apart when pulled.) Add yeast mixture. Slowly add the remaining flour until dough is soft and smooth. Let raise 20 min. Cook 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.
